[Gallery] Pijama Party!

05/31/2009

I'm sorry the scenario is always that table, but I don't know where else to put them. I just wanted to share some PJ party pictures and the "pets" of the house!

[Gallery] Experimental pictures from 2009 (Part 2)

07/05/2009

As I was starting in the hobby, I had to make the most out of the few clothing and props I owned. I had no furniture. I think this constraint pushed me to be more creative with my takes. I had to have an idea in my head before starting a photoshoot, and then give the final touches later on in Photoshop.

[Gallery] Experimental Pictures from 2009 (Part I)

I've done some digital archaeology, gathering doll pictures from old websites and external hard drives, and I've taken the decision of resurrecting this BlogSpot. I will gather all of my dolls' galleries and photo-stories in this one single place.

In 2009, two hobbies started piking my interest: dolls and photography. Dolls were my main escapism as I was a migrant. Photography helped me overcome all the overwhelming emotions that came with starting over, on my own, in a different country, which in this case was Canada.

I got a point and shot camera, but I still could apply what I was learning from a Facebook group called "Venezuelan photographers". This group had weekly challenges that touched on both technical and artistic aspects. It was a great community, from a time where social networks were still in its infancy. I met some good online friends that I still kinda keep on touch with.

While I got my first resin head in 2008, it was in 2009 where my doll collection really started. My first full doll was a Dream of Doll Lahoo. My sister also started collecting with me. There were so many companies, and so many lovelies to choose from... It was a whole new world for us. Most of the knowledge from that time came from a forum called "Den of Angels" which is still up and running. It was a very niche hobby and people all around the world were experimenting and finding things here and there, sharing their new discoveries.

Now with nostalgia mode full on, I present some of the experimental pictures I took and edited that magical year.

[Gallery] Was it worth it?

I've abandoned this poor blog for years, so I've decided to update it. I'm gonna start with these pictures from April 8th, 2014.

So I wanted to take mud pics of this doll and today was the perfect day as it rained (don't worry, mud doesn't stain resin!) I came from work and had about one hour of light left. I went to this little park, covered Marko in mud and water, and I'm about to take the perfect picture when I realized I had no battery in my camera! I had to come back and once I got to the same spot, a man and his daughter came by collecting hockey discs that people left in winter... They started a conversation with me regarding the doll and inside I was like "I have no time!!!". "You never know what sort of things you find this season... Even a doll! Is that a barbie?" Anyway. The sun was setting but I was able to take some nice pics. They're sort of repetitive but I hope you like them.

[Photo Story] Manaka is confused

03/29/2014

Manaka: "So uhm do you also come from the past?"

Coltrane: "Yes, I do. I still don't understand the titbits of time travel, but I'm here right now anyway."
